Payroll and invoices prepared for one approval
An agent that turns a stack of pay slips into one bulk payroll transfer and a client list into drafted invoices, with deterministic checks beside the model and the owner's approval before anything moves, the way Qonto built it on Claude
The problem
At month end the owner of a ten person company keys every salary into the bank one transfer at a time, then creates each client invoice by hand from a spreadsheet. The work is repetitive, the typing errors are expensive, and it always lands on the busiest days of the month.
How the agent works
It starts
The owner drops the month's pay slips, or a CSV of clients to bill, into the agent.
The agent works
An operator agent reads the request and routes it to a specialised agent scoped to that one task: for payroll it reads each pay slip and prepares every salary as a line in a single bulk transfer; for invoicing it creates the client records and drafts one invoice per line. Deterministic checks run beside the model on the sensitive steps, for example that amounts and account details match the documents. The output is a review screen that shows enough for the owner to judge whether the data is right. Nothing moves until the owner confirms: in Qonto's words, any action with a financial or customer relationship impact requires user confirmation.
The result
For a business that is not on Qonto, the same pattern runs with Claude reading the pay slips, writing the bank's bulk transfer file and the invoice drafts into the accounting tool, and a person approving the upload.
Worked example
Anthropic's case study on Qonto, a banking and bookkeeping app for small businesses across eight European markets, describes an 'operator' agent for admin and an 'analyst' agent for questions about transactions, both built on Claude on Amazon Bedrock. The examples given are a customer with 550 clients and 500 plus monthly invoices, and a solo entrepreneur who spent half a day of admin every month. Qonto's self reported results in the study: bank transfers 2X faster, client invoices created in 3X less time, payroll 5X quicker; Forrester's analysis for Qonto puts the financial admin its customers do at up to 8 hours every month. The largest transfer a customer has delegated to the agents is EUR 100,000, per Sophie Cornay of Qonto's AI Lab. The project began in November 2025 and reached several thousand beta customers before release six weeks later.
