Every monday.com board clean by Friday
An operations agent that audits the monday.com boards every Friday for items with no owner, no due date, a stale status or a likely duplicate, posts the findings with a proposed fix for each, and applies only the fixes the project lead ticks, in bulk, through the official monday.com MCP
The problem
A monday.com account that started with one clean board now has forty: items with no owner, due dates in the past, statuses nobody has touched since the kickoff, three columns that mean the same thing. The weekly report built on those boards is wrong before anyone reads it, and nobody has an afternoon free to tidy up.
How the agent works
It starts
com, reads the schema and items of the boards it is assigned (get_board_schema and get_board_items are among the tools on the connector and the open source server).
The agent works
It applies the team's rules: every active item has an owner and a due date, no item sits in Working on it longer than the agreed limit without an update, status labels match the board's standard set, and two items with the same name for the same client are flagged as a likely duplicate. It writes one audit per board with the counts, the offending items with links, and the proposed fix for each (assign the group lead, move to Done, set the date from the timeline, merge the duplicate), and posts it as an update on the board or in Slack. The project lead ticks what to apply; only then does the agent make the changes in bulk (change_item_column_values, move_item_to_group) and post an update on each changed item saying what changed and why.
The result
It never deletes an item (delete_item in the monday MCP is permanent and stays switched off), and the first two runs are read only (the server's --read-only mode) so the lead sees the audit before any write happens.
Worked example
The monday CRM plugin page on claude.com (made by monday.com, Anthropic verified, 247 installs at the time of reading, built on the official monday MCP connector) lists among its capabilities: audit board health, clean up messy data in bulk, turn meeting notes into deal updates, and states that every skill writes back into monday as a real update, doc or dashboard. The monday.com connector page says it was added in November 2025, exposes 33 tools, and names monitoring SLA performance and flagging overdue or at risk work as use cases, with the server at mcp.monday.com/mcp. The README of the mondaycom/mcp repository on GitHub says delete_item is permanent, documents the --read-only flag, and marks the dynamic API tools as beta and off by default. No page reports results; measure your own by counting items with no owner or a past due date per board each week.
